Apparently my last WWW post was October 31. I went on a bit of a hiatus, and then I started wondering “Well, If I do a WWW post, how far back do I go with what I’ve been reading?” And I couldn’t decide. So then I eventually decided I would just start with today and only talk about books read in 2020.
… Yes, I overthink these things.
What have you recently finished reading?
It Sounded Better In My Head by Nina Kenwood was a sweet YA contemporary. It had some pacing issues and I didn’t really feel like I knew anything about the love interest, but it was painfully realistic when it came to messy friendship dynamics, which I liked a lot.
I’ll have a review up on Friday.
What are you currently reading?!
Don’t Read The Comments by Eric Smith. Apparently I’m in a YA contemporary mood at the moment. Though to be fair, this is an ARC and I need to read it before January 20. Not very far in at the moment but I think it will be quite topical.
I also started The Beast’s Heart by Leife Shallcross. This is a retelling of Beauty and the Beast from the Beast’s POV. I’m only a few chapters in but the writing is really lyrical and beautiful! Also a digital version of the cover really doesn’t do it justice. The paperback is so shiny!
What do you think you will read next?
Bitter Falls by Rachel Caine comes out on January 20, so I need to read this ARC next. To be honest, I’m a bit worried about whether I’ll enjoy it. Stillhouse Lake and Killman Creek were such amazing books but I didn’t love Wolfhunter River as much… So we’ll have to see how it goes.

I’m about 20% in now and it’s good so far! I really dislike Jason, I have a feeling he’s going to turn out to be terrible.

I have the same problem with my intermittent posting, but then decided to do it monthly; and I keep a list of what I’ve read since the last one.
I am wondering about Bitter Falls, as I loved Stillhouse Lake; I wasn’t even sure this was the same author until I checked. I haven’t read Killman Creek yet. I’ll be watching for your thoughts.

Killman Creek was an incredible sequel – I read Stillhouse Lake and Killman Creek in two days each, one after the other. It’s turning into more of a crime-solving-thriller series now than one directly involving the main characters, so it’s a bit different… but hoepfully still thrilling!

It’s good so far! I think I’m spotting some red flags where I’m supposed to and there was some good dread set up when online bullying starts seeping into real life. The MCs haven’t met yet so I’m curious how that’s going to work.

I LOVE the sound of The Beast’s Heart and that cover is stunning! And I’m the same when it comes to the Stillhouse Lake books… The first two are on my list of all time favorites, but the magic of those two seems to be lost in the further sequels. Definitely don’t set your expectations too high for Bitter Falls; it’s good and I enjoyed reading it, but it’s similar to Wolfhunter River in quality.

Good to know! I was actually surprised when I went back to my Wolfhunter River review and found I’d given it four stars. I remembered feeling it was more of a 3. I’ll try to go into this one with an open mind and see how I go.

I think I have several Beauty and the Beast re-tellings on my TBR but none from the Beasts POV so I have to add The Beast’s Heart (of course). Have a great week!

You’ve reminded me that I wanted to read Stillhouse Lake but haven’t put it on my Goodreads list yet. I’m adding The Beast’s Heart, too. I need more lyrical fairytale retellings and I do love a shiny cover!

You won’t regret Stillhouse Lake! It was amazing! Does end on a cliffhanger, I would advise having Killman Creek ready to go.
