This week in writing
I started strong this week, but fell off the wagon about Thursday, when I started getting behind. Apparently it’s hard both performing in a musical and writing 750 words a day. We had a matinee today and I’mstill tired so at this point it’s unlikely I’ll get anything written, leaving my weekly total at 3098 (of an ideal 5250).
Goal for the week: try to write something every day. Next weekend is closing weekend. I can try to up my words after that.
This week in reading
I finished The Sleeper and the Spindle by Neil Gaiman on audio and Artie and Grime Wave by Richard Roxburgh in print. I’m now I’m trying to focus on The Badass Librarians of Timbuktu by Joshua Hammer at the moment, but unfortunately, there’s a fair bit of dry historical reading in amongst the fun stuff, so it’s slow-going. I’ve started Infernal Ties by Holly Evans in the meantime, along with The Soldier’s Curse by Tom and Meg Keneally on audio.
Goal for the week: Carve out half an hour of reading time a day. I’m thinking I might even put this on my Habitica dailies list so that I have an incentive to make room for it.
This week in blogging
Yeaaaah. After doing so well last week, this week I fell off the wagon again. I don’t think I’m going to be truly back into this properly until after the show finishes.
Goal for the week: I still need to review Artie and the Grime Wave and I’ll probably be finished Infernal Ties soon, so that, too.
This week in health and fitness
I was pleasantly surprised when my WiiFit told me this morning that I lost 500g this week. It’s not much, but a loss is a loss, and to be honest, I was expecting a gain. I haven’t been eating the most nutritious of foods, and I had been snacking a fair bit in the dressing room on the nights we had performances. However, today I stocked up on fruit and veg, and I plan to get back on track with the healthy eating this week.
It’s hard to know exactly what my step count is on days I have performances, as I don’t wear my FitBit under my costume (they didn’t have FitBits in 1901, and I’m worried if I wear it under the long-sleeved costume, I’ll forget to take it off for the short-sleeved one). But I’m going to continue aiming for 10k. I also hunted out my resistance bands today, and have looked up a couple of simple workouts on YouTube to start following.
Goals for the week: reach 10k steps each day, as well as do 10 minutes pilates and a 10 minute strength workout. Continue to stay witihin calorie quota eating fresh fruit and vegetable-dense meals.
That’s about all for now! I will try to catch you all this week!
Emily, as someone else finding it hard to reconcile a demanding job with blogging I’m full of admiration for you as an entertainer who blogs. Don’t be so hard on yourself love the posts you make, as we all do, but if you skip a few words here or there, a day here because you’ve got so much going on around you what of it?
We love seeing your posts, reading your take on books or whatever you post. I personally love the quality of your writing so please don’t change anything and if you skip a day then so be it.
